Visits and Tour

Visits & Tours

Throughout the year we receive visitors from various organisations and establishments who travel from all around the world to see the mosque. A great deal of visitors are from faith, inter-faith and educational institutions wishing to further their understanding of Islamic lifestyle and worship. Tourists make up a large part of the international visitors along with foreign students and delegations from Europe, the Americas, Africa, the Middle-East and Asia. The mosque mostly receives a high number of bookings from groups and individuals from in and around Britain as well as from within its primary region, the West Midlands.

The ICT is open to visitors throughout the year. We receive a large number of visitors from schools, colleges and universities wishing to find out more about the workings of a mosque and the Islamic faith for projects and studies.

We also have a number of faith-based groups, organisational visits and tourists who visit the mosque. Most visits are booked via the main office and in writing. We must have notice of at least two weeks for a visit so that we can make the necessary arrangements. We have three main hosts on hand to cater for groups of different ages. City-visiting tourists may drop in without prior appointment.

A normal visit consists of an observation of prayer, a tour of the mosque building and a Q&A or discussion session. Light refreshments and worksheets are also provided for younger visitors.

What is a Masjid or Mosque?

Our masjid is a place of prayer, a community center, a library, an educational center, a social and dinning hall, and a place for counsel and devotion.  It’s our special and sacred space.

We ask that the guests in their own way be sensitive to the etiquette of the masjid environment.

What to wear?

Men/women should wear loose fitting clothing – covering the body except hands, face and feet.

Women cover their crowning beauty, the hair.  Women could wear a hat or scarf that covers the hair.

Leave your shoes at the entrance

Remember to leave your shoes at the entrance of the prayer halls. The prayer area is used for prostration.

Visit during the Jumu’ah Prayer

The Jumu’ah or Friday congregational worship service is open to the public.  During the Jumu’ah prayer the Center hosts over 800 men and women from our region.  There is a  sermon followed by the prayer.  The entire services take about 45 minutes.

The prayer starts at 1:00pm all year around and finishes at 1:45pm.

The Jumu’ah prayer is an uninterrupted sermon of two parts with the Imam taking a short break and continuing the second sermon and ending with supplications often in English and Arabic and concluded with two units (rakah) of salah (prayer).

There is no public collection.  On occasion there maybe a public appeal for funds to support the mosque, school, social services or relief work.  You are under no obligation to give.

Please arrive 10 minutes early.  If you are driving, parking is congested so allow enough time to park and walk to the Center from street parking.

If you are a visitor please come to the main office and introduce yourself.  We will find you a host or a hostess to guide you through your visit and explain the worship service.

If you would like to arrange a group visit please fill the form below email Imam@theictn.org few day in advance.

Thank you for your interest in coming to our Center.
